I am the space where I am
I am the space where I am is an exhibition of other peoples corners.
A corner. A place or angle where two sides or edges meet. A bend in a road. A change in direction. An awkward or difficult situation. A remote or secluded area. Somewhere safe, local, familiar. Somewhere to hide. They are the first pieces you put in when doing a jigsaw. Something to build on. More than one of them makes shape, creates strength, contains things, keeps things out. A corner is an intersection, a junction. A corner is a negotiation, a conversation.
From conversations with local people in an area of high migration I collect corners. Descriptions of the corners of people’s homes and the objects they fill them with. One from each person.
These corners are then exhibited in a local arts space/gallery in the area.
